Junior Software Engineer – AWS
Experience: 3 – 6 Years
Role Overview
As a Junior Software Engineer, you will be a crucial contributor to the design, development, and continuous deployment of our core evaluation engine module. Working under the mentorship of Senior Architects and Lead Engineers, you will help architect and build a highly resilient, event-driven ecosystem. This system is designed to ingest massive, high-velocity streams of telemetry and network events, evaluate them in real-time against complex, dynamic business policies, and accurately route candidate records to downstream operational ticketing and ITSM tools. This is a hands-on, high-impact coding role requiring solid cloud-native development skills, a strong foundation in modern software engineering principles, and the ability to deploy containerized microservices on AWS EKS alongside a distributed messaging and data storage layer. You will play a pivotal role in scaling our infrastructure to meet growing enterprise demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Event-Driven Data Ingestion: Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput, configuration-driven data ingestion pipelines that consume, normalize, and process event streams from OpenSearch and Amazon MSK (Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka), ensuring robust fault-tolerance, backpressure management, and error handling.
- Scalable Data Access Layers: Implement and optimize data access layers utilizing Amazon DynamoDB to interact with dynamic ingestion metadata. Focus on efficient partition key design and schema-less data management to support high read/write throughput.
- Microservices Development & Orchestration: Build, extensively test, and deploy resilient microservices for the primary evaluation module on AWS EKS (Kubernetes) to execute complex rule sets and policy engines. Participate in building CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth, automated rollouts.
- Dynamic Configuration & Zero-Downtime: Write modular code that supports zero-downtime, config-driven strategy patterns, ensuring rule parameters, feature flags, and thresholds can change dynamically in production without requiring full application restarts.
- Advanced Query Optimization: Write efficient queries and interact with sophisticated metadata storage architectures leveraging a combination of DynamoDB and Amazon DocumentDB for rapid, low-latency evaluation querying and JSON document retrieval.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience & Certifications: 3+ years of professional software engineering and cloud infrastructure experience with AWS Associate certification.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong coding skills in modern programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or Go, with an emphasis on writing clean, maintainable, and test-driven code.
- Containerization & Kubernetes: Hands-on experience building, testing, and deploying containerized microservices using Docker and Kubernetes. Specific experience with AWS EKS is highly preferred.
- Streaming & Messaging: Strong practical and academic understanding of event-driven programming, message queues, and streaming technologies like Apache Kafka (MSK), RabbitMQ, or Amazon SQS.
- Database & Cloud Storage: Practical experience interacting with NoSQL databases (Amazon DynamoDB, DocumentDB, MongoDB) and cloud storage solutions (Amazon S3), including data modeling and performance tuning.
- Collaboration & Growth: Eagerness to learn complex system architectures, ability to clearly understand and follow architectural block diagrams, and strong teamwork skills to deliver features consistently within Agile cross-functional engineering squads.
